Caren Cloud is the Legal Director for the Truancy Intervention Project Georgia (TIP Georgia), a dropout prevention program serving the state of Georgia. A graduate of Clark Atlanta University and the University of Georgia School of Law, Caren began her legal career as an intern with the New York Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division and she has worked in child advocacy for the past seventeen years. Caren has served as an adjunct professor of juvenile law at Georgia State University’s College of Law and implemented and supervises TIP’s Legal Externship Program and School Tribunal Advocate Initiative.
In addition to her direct client representation in CHINS and delinquency matters, Caren has presented at local community meetings and juvenile justice conferences throughout the State and Southeast. She serves on the Fulton County Juvenile Court’s CHINS Committee, Dually Involved Youth Initiative and School Pathways Committee. Caren is a current member-at-large of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Board of Directors, serves as Secretary of the Gate City Bar Association and sits on the Advisory Committee of Georgia Appleseed’s Juvenile Code Assessment Project.
Caren is the recipient of the several awards including Best Service to the Public, State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division (2002-03), Child Advocate Award, State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division Juvenile Law Committee (2010), the Fred Gray Social Justice Award, John Marshall Law School (2010) and Distinguished Service Award, Atlanta Bar Association (2016).
