CLYDE E. MIZE, JR | IMMEDIATE PAST PRSIDENT

Clyde E. Mize, Jr. is a Partner in the Real Estate Practice in the Atlanta, Georgia office of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP (MMM), an AmLaw 200 law firm with national and international reach.  Clyde practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, and finance.  He represents clients in all phases of real estate including acquisitions, developments, financing and sales.  He is an active member of the Atlanta real estate community and often speaks on a variety of issues of interest concerning the financial and real estate industries.  He is the chair of MMM’s Diversity Committee, and in 2009, he established an annual program for first-year law students and an internship program to educate promising high schoolers about the many opportunities that legal careers offer.

Clyde has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to strengthening his community through his involvement with various civic and professional organizations.  He currently serves as the chair of the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program, as President-Elect of the Gate City Bar Association, as a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc., as an instructor in the Youth Ministry of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, and he is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Kappa Boulé.  Through his involvement with the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, he established the Emerging 100, an auxiliary comprised of young professional men.  Through the Gate City Bar Association, he established the Brother to Brother mentoring program, which provides opportunities for male attorneys and law students to interact.  As the chair of the Father’s Auxiliary for the Greater Metropolitan Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., he established a leadership institute for young men and boys.

In 2014, the National Bar Association honored Clyde’s mentoring efforts by presenting him with its “My Brother’s Keeper” award.

Clyde earned his B.A. from the University of Illinois and his juris doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law.  He is married to Ida Rose-Mize, DDS, and they have two children.
