Pierce Hand is a staff attorney at Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) where he provides and arranges free legal representation for tenants facing housing matters. Through a partnership with Purpose Built Schools, Pierce mainly represents parents and students in Atlanta Public Schools to preserve their housing and in turn improve student health, academic performance, and educational continuity.

Prior to AVLF, Pierce practiced as a commercial litigation associate at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, representing clients in ERISA litigation, commercial disputes in state and federal courts, and trust and estate litigation. He attended college at Emory University and graduated law school cum laude at Georgia State University College of Law. In between college and law school, Pierce taught high school students at Benjamin E. Mays High School for two years.

Currently, Pierce serves as Chair of the Young Lawyers Division Steering Committee. He is also a member of the LEAD Atlanta Class of 2022, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ LGBTQ Advisory Board, and the Emory Alumni Board.
