The Gate City Foundation, Inc. (“Gate City”) is proud to announce its annual Summer Associate Program. The program is designed to ensure that more African-American law students are supported in their development as attorneys by providing them with the opportunity to gain substantive legal experience by working under the guidance of Gate City members and their firms. Summer associates will be paired with our partner firms, law departments, and/or judges for a 5-6 week, full-time program. Through lunches and networking events, the program will also provide interns with the opportunity to meet with Gate City members who are corporate and government lawyers, as well as members of the judiciary.
Most associates will be paid on an hourly basis, and upon successful completion of the program, all will receive a $3,000 stipend. The program does not provide housing or reimburse for travel and associates will not receive an offer for employment upon completing the program.
The program is open to current 1st and 2nd year law students who have a record of accomplishment, leadership and community service. Applicants must be able to participate for the entire duration of the program beginning late May/early June 2019.
Interested law students should submit their resumes, transcripts, and one writing sample (five pages maximum) to s.beck@tkstlaw.com. Resumes should include the name and contact information for two (2) references, as well as all law clerk related experience, and must be received by Friday, April 26, 2019.
Law students please note that ensuring timely receipt of your resume, transcript(s), and writing sample is your responsibility. You will be notified no later than Friday, May 3, 2019 if you have been selected for an interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019.
